Author Bruce Spydar

Hi! I am Bruce Spydar.

I recently released the second part of the Shy Backpacker series, Diary of a Shy Backpacker: ii. Eye on the Prize. The first book, Awakening Down Under, has had some lovely reviews, and long may that continue.

A while ago, I re-invented myself as an independent writer, to promote my thoughts about happiness and well-being, but lately I have moved my sights towards humorous novels; I enjoy the writing, and laughter is just so great for the soul. I am not connected to any publisher, nor marketing budget, and rely solely on word of mouth to promote my work. If you like my writing, then please leave a positive review here, and on Amazon … it really helps me to get noticed (algorithms favour more established, larger scale operations), and every little helps.

Shy Backpacker novels:

Diary of a Shy Backpacker … is a series of adventures tracing a young man trying to make some sense of his life during his gap year travels. It is life-based fiction written around and expanding from some of my own adventures several years ago. It is humorous adult travel romance, following the adventures of a young man in search of excitement and romance.

Self help books:

These books are primarily aimed to get your brain thinking in different and perhaps unconventional ways about life, and how you might become happier, or more at peace with yourself. The e-book versions are ideal for mobile phones rather than larger devices, so you can more easily carry them around and dip into.

Spydar’s Web: How to capture happiness ... is aimed towards encouragement of positive thinking for improvement of our happiness and well-being. The SPIDER model is a simple visual tool that can be an effective prompt for promoting many of the things we know enhance our own happiness, and discouraging us from falling into our bad habits. Simply Happy: Pocket book of positivity ... is a cut-down, more child-friendly introduction to the model. Both books bring together the SPIDER model, together with illustrative quotes (and in the Spydar’s Web, some theory, examples and exercises) to be a practical tool that can assist you to build your own happiness habits.

Crossing the Wilderness: Stepping through the midlife crisis was my first publication, pulling some of my thoughts on life together, from my own period of mid-life questioning.

Before writing, I led the resources functions of an international environmental organization for nearly two decades, before a work restructure precipitated a major re-evaluation of life and a search for something new. My career had been spent finding creative solutions for business operations and for people working around the world, allowing front-line conservation efforts to progress towards making the planet a better and more sustainable place for nature and people. My professional life involved strategic, business, finance and people planning and management, together with experiences in the roles of trainer, coach, mentor, sounding board, and agony aunt …

Having worked for many years in nature conservation, and being inspired by the natural wonders of the world we live in, I believe that happy nature = a happy world.

I continue to think and write…

Author Kimmey Fitts

Kimmey Fitts is a happily married Christian mother of a very talented adult son. She has been faithfully married for 29 years to her handsome husband Jeff. She homeschooled her son Ryan, working at his tutorial as he was growing up. When he graduated, she worked briefly in daycare, then as a substitute teacher for a while before getting back to her writing. The family has a dog that is more of a baby to Kimmey. Zoey is Kimmey's muse for every dog that she writes about in her stories. She had taken journalism at MTSU years ago but never pursued her love for it. Unfortunately, at the time work came first. She decided to pursue a career as a medical secretary and graduated with a degree from Nashville College. It was always a dream of hers to have a book published. Idella's Journal was her first short story trilogy. She loves writing short stories, novellas, and poetry. She hopes you will enjoy reading her works of fiction as much as she enjoys writing them. You will notice that there is no cursing and no real sexual content (just some kissing, etc.), so the books are exciting, yet still acceptable for teens and young adults. She has also written a factual book about the topics of the Bible.
